Sept 22 - 24, 2023

The Vancouver DataJam is a community-focused hackathon that empowers women, gender minorities, racial minorities, and other underrepresented groups in data science.

Our theme this year is “Tackling Canadian Climate Change” where we offer workshops, a data hackathon, and a networking event for data innovation. We are partnering with DataCan and WomenTechMakers (The U) to help drive change towards climate change in Canada through technology.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accept any additional participants after the signup deadline. Sorry about that!
Do I need to pay to sign up?
Admission is free and includes $wag, resources, an unforgettable collaboration with data enthusiasts, and networking opportunities with industry professionals!

Is it mandatory to attend an in-person closing ceremony?
We highly encourage you to attend the in-person closing ceremony and networking event. Please note that your team will be ineligible for the prizes if none of your team members are able to attend and present your project.
Can I attend the networking event only if I am not interested in competing?
Participation in the in-person networking event on the evening of September 24th is exclusively available to those who are actively engaged in the hackathon. Attending solely for the networking event is not possible.

What happens if I do not have a project idea?
Don't worry. We will provide you with a list of project ideas related to climate change, along with relevant datasets.
What resources are available during the hackathon?
We will provide you with relevant datasets, industry mentors, and committee members who will be available for on-call assistance to address any technical challenges you may encounter.
